Olympus 5

The first impression of these shoes may not be attractive, but there is something cute and charming about them. I have wide feet, and these shoes come in a wide fit, which makes them comfortable, and the cushioning is also very good.

Olympus 5 Hike Low Gtx Shoe

Well constructed shoe is definitely a good option for waterproof trail shoes. It does not fit like the Olympus 5 hike trail running shoe. It is more snug in the mid and fore foot and you would probably need to size up if you plan on buying it.

Olympus 5 GTX

Very good looking shoe, well built.
Unfortunately it fits very tight compared to the same size Olympus 4 regular shoe.
I wore the Olympus 4 on the Portuguese Camino last year and had no issues. It was comfortable and wore well.

Right idea but doesn't quite deliver

The wide toe box is the main selling feature of this shoe and it does offer ample space for natural splay. Unfortunately, the fit in the heel seems very wide and makes it hard to lock in a secure fit. This is exacerbated by the round laces which become loose/untied far too easily.

A little stiff

well made, dry but make sure to order at least 0.5 size bigger then usual

Like mentioned in other reviews, make sure to order half size bigger. I normally take 10.5 and had to exchange for 11. Other then that, well made and stay dry.

Olympus 5 Hike Low Gtx Shoe Review

Unlike the non-GTX version, the heel fit the foot nicely. Excellent width and smooth walking sole.

Too bad

I really wanted to like these shoes but the fit just wasn’t there. I have and really like the Escalante but the Olympus doesn’t fit the same. Yes, they are different styles of shoes but I fortunately the fit isn’t the same. I had way too much heal lift and my toes were jammed up front. Theses are a return for me.

Another great hiking option from Altra

I never thought I could be convinced to try an alternative to the Altra Lone Peak for thru-hiking but Olympus is doing the trick.
I still love the Lone Peaks but the cushion helps for long distances.
Generally, can't beat the Altra foot shape. Still wondering when the other brands are going to wake up and adopt it.

Bon soulier de randonnée

Ce soulier est très confortable et léger. Son Goretex et sa semelle rigide sont parfaits pour la randonnée. Le seul point faible qui ne lui donne pas 5 étoiles, est que les lacets sont ronds et ne demeurent pas serrés. Je vais devoir les changer pour des lacets plats.
