Amazing padded coat, super warm, and great quality. It’s fine even in -20. Fits perfectly, soft and comfy. Worth the price.

underestimated

I wasn't looking for a belay jacket (parka) but was looking for a jacket warm enough for low activity and really cold winter days. Something not puffy, bulky or heavy like a traditional parka.

There are not many options for a windproof, waterproof, low bulk jacket that's warm enough to handle the cold.

First time trying it out was with a mild walk in the evening - minus 9c (-18c windchill). Wasn't sure what to expect because the jacket felt so thin and light so I wore a high pile collared hoodie over a tshirt, windproof pants over sweats and beanie under the belay jacket and BD Fineline jacket.

I didn't feel any chill for the 20 minute walk. Maybe too much for that weather.

Next day, same temp and wind, I wore just a light weight down jacket, beanie, sweats and windproof pants. It was enough for the weather but I discovered the flaw in the design.

The hood has very little control. Only the draw-string on the back to tighten the sizing.

The collar is plenty roomy when zipped up. You don't feel strangled while wearing mid layers. Which is what a belay is designed for. But it would be nice to have more control to cinch up the hood along the opening. This would keep the cold air from seeping in from the top while the draw-string at the hem blocks the other end.

The other flaw is the design of the hood. The design is more open/wider leaving your face more exposed.

The jacket is a small with lots of room for the layers underneath it. I wear a medium tshirt and small for jackets. So much room that you want to fill that extra space with a midlayer so it helps to block out the cold air. Some mid layer with a collar to zip up to cover the mouth. Without it, the cold air comes in and makes you feel colder than you should.

I'm not using the jacket as it was designed for (belay) but it is great as a very warm synthetic mid layer under a jacket (shell) to keep warm on a cold winter day.

PROS: warmer than you think, blocks the wind, low bulk (loft)

CONS: hood needs more ways to adjust, more oversize than you think (pro as a belay jacket) con if you just want to wear this as a jacket with only a tshirt, Lire moins

Nice Winter Jacket

This jacket gives okay warmth, if you are looking for a true parka look elsewhere. I will say though with proper layering this jacket does keep you warm. Excellent Warm Jacket

Fits as intended as a belay jacket - made to fit over a mid layer. Very warm jacket. Large interior pockets to carry gloves. I’d recommend if you need a very warm jacket.

Super manteau, vraiment chaud !

Très satisfait de ce parka, réellement chaud et résistant. Ce n'est pas un manteau léger par contre, mais il est parfait pour les expéditions hivernales, lors de pauses et de moments d'attente à l'extérieur.

Great Alberta winter jacket

I originally bought a Medium and it was way too large for me. In all my patagonia and black diamond jackets, midlayers and fleeces I fit a M. But this jacket is probably made for lots of layering and a helmet for the hood. The small fit great. I tried it with my patagonia down sweater and it still fit if I needed for extra layering. weather with a light midlayer for shoveling 20mins and I started sweating. Really happy with this jacket and Altitude for swapping the sizing. Also, the jacket looks cool and feels great. Great jacket for daily use

I purchased this during the Black Friday sale and found it to be a great buy. It’s exceptionally warm and surprisingly lightweight. The only drawback is that it runs slightly large. For reference, I’m 182 cm tall with a slim build, and the medium size sleeves are a bit too long for me. Overall, I’d recommend it!

Thick and warm parka but a bit on heavy

Haven’t tried out yet but this parka seems like a tank and great for belay duties. It’s a bit on the heavier side compared to some other belay parkas, but that’s a trade off you expect with warmer parkas.

Very Warm

I think this may be one of the warmest jackets on the market. It is like putting on a sleeping bag.
I haven't got to test it out in a meaningful (below -10), but confident it will hold up to the elements.
