Not what I expected

Upon first inspection I was not amused nor did I read it came with no sole insert. After reading more it turns out to be normal as per Danner it’s supposed to fit just right, and to my surprise it does if u want to add an insert you can. Amazing quality!

These are good-looking boots, constructed with good materials and well made. They are very comfortable for walking around the city or hiking in the woods. The size is a bit tricky. I generally wear size 10. 5, but these boots fit slightly big. The 10’s are a bit snug but better fit than the 10. 5 which are too big and my hills feel loose in them.

Favourite boots!

Tough, grippy boots. A little on the heavy side, but they are built like tanks and comfortable.

Great

Outstanding quality and not as heavy as I expected. I found them to be comfortable right out of the box but will take time to break in and mold to my feet. Haven’t had enough time to give an in depth review but from the short time I’ve had them I would recommend these boots.

the EE width fit more like a D width.
I was concerned that these boots didn’t come with an insole but with my flat feet, but I still found these comfortable.
I had a difficult time choosing between the Cascade Clovis and the Brown colourway but I’m happy I went with the Cascade Clovis. The colour depicted online is accurate in my opinion.
I plan to wear these hiking/backpacking and casually. Lire moins

Quality

These are great hiking boots and will last for years. They do take a little time to break in the tongue leather on the boot but once that is broken in the fit is very comfortable. ay the tongue leather folds over on top of your foot. Once the leather breaks in I had no real issue with the area just a lot of leather on the top side of your foot. The 5 inch height was clearly stated and I thought I'd give them a try. Next pair for me I will probably go back to a higher height boot. Lire moins

Well made & they look amazing! Sizing is an issue

Use: Light hiking, urban trails, coffee runs

Sizing: I normally go with a size US10 but these fit about a half size big. I went with the 9.5EE for a better fit over the 10. For a wide construction, these feel slightly narrow. The 10EE I originally bought had a good width but were long.

h is a shame given the price point these are at. Without the insert, my feet appreciated a hiking sock which added some padding and helped with the roomy heel. I also tried adding inserts but now the hiking socks made the boots feel slightly tight. Changing to a thinner sock helped with that.

Break-in: I have yet to wear these outside however from my time wearing them indoors, I’m not anticipating a lengthy process. I read that some owners will apply boot dressing before wearing them, and it’s likely I will do the same.

Style: These boots look amazing! I went with the flat read laces over the round (they come with both). I think they look the part of an old school hiker, and they stay knotted once done up. The boot colour is ‘Cascade Clovis’ and the pair I have matches the website images spot on - I think it’s a good colour choice.

Summary: The sizing is an issue (for me!), hence 4 stars, and not 5. The style is great, they appear to be well made, and they are recraftable. I wouldn’t pay full retail for these but with Altitude’s sale price and their return policy for members, I think it was a good deal. Lire moins

Danner boots

I would recommend sizing down has they are wide boots. Very confortable for city walking and for hiking! They have been in the snow and it doesn’t show.

Danner mountain light GTX boot

I found these boots to be very heavy and clunky. Not nearly as comfortable as the Mountain 600 Danner boots that I bought earlier. The boot tongue was thick and large and created a lump when tying up the boot.
I returned them and ordered some Zamberlan boots. Haven't received them yet
