my AirPods case doesn’t fit into the small pocket in the middle and there are numerous other small elastic pockets for memory cards but they’re too small for anything else and feels like a waste of space. There’s no key clip which I wish it had as I’m paranoid of losing them.

The main compartment is spacious which is great for travel packing space but not so good if using the bag as a day-to-day office / laptop bag as everything moves around loose. The laptop sleeve fits my 17” laptop easily, but I’m not a big fan of the Velcro closure which just seems a bit crude for a bag that is otherwise really sleek. Wish it was a magnetic or plastic clip fixture even. The inner tablet sleeve is also not that helpful and the laptop sometimes catches on it when trying to slide it into the main sleeve.

The back panel and straps are comfortable enough for getting through the airport but I think over a full day they’d be a bit too slim and might start to dig into your shoulders. I don’t think this bag would be comfortable for longer hikes or carrying around a city all day if it was full.

tuff inside 10 days of clothes + a tripod. I expect to pack even less clothes next time. Doing laundry is the solution. The advantage is that you have your hands free when you commute and go from hotels to hotels.
- carry straps proved useful on my very first trip already. I attached my hiking shoes (wrapped in a grocery bag). I left the Peak Design backpack when arriving before the check-in time at the hotel. That way, I didn't have to carry the hiking shoes in my day backpack. And no fumbling around between my 2 backpacks at the hotel reception.
- more options if you want to carry bottles on the sides or a travel tripod. A travel tripod can even go on the bottom, outside the backpack. Thanks to the carry straps.
- has more structure, keeps its shape when empty.
- handles on 4 sides. Super helpful for retrieving the backpack from any overhead compartment.


CONS
- the hip belt is sold separately. I purchased it, which increased the overal cost of this already expensive bag. Keep in mind that the height of the straps isn't adjustable like with the Osprey Farpoint. With the Farpoint, you can have the bottom of the backpack sit at the right level (on your hips) and then adjust the anchor height of the shoulder straps accordingly. Not possible with the Peak Design.
- loaded with a total weight of 9 kg, the shoulder straps did hurt my shoulders. But this was when I was carrying my second backpack in front of me (meaning I had 2 shoulder straps per shoulder). I'm not entirely sure if thicker straps would have helped. For my usage (purely commuting between hotels as opposed to carrying the backpack all day long), the backpack meets my needs.
- ability to completely remove the sternum strap is a gimmick. Mine proved very difficult to remove. At least, I won't lose it. Peak Design sent me a newer version of the straps but it didn't help.

I would suggest comparing backpacks when they are loaded. When empty, I found the Osprey Farpoint 40 incomfortable. But loaded, I don't know, I didn't try.
