Really Nice Waistcoat

Beautiful design and materials used on this classic waistcoat by a trusted, tenured brand - Barbour. Important to note, it fits a bit longer than other waistcoats I’ve worn.

Limited usability, tricky sizing

This waistcoat can be useful to extend the temperature range of a Barbour jacket that can take in the zip-in liner. I got mine at a good discount so I'll be keeping it, but there are some negative points one may want to consider:
1. It's not super warm. While it will undoubtedly help protect from the cold, you can get the same result with a go...Lire la suite

od fleece vest. Even better with a fleece jacket since your arms would be protected too.
2. The way it attaches to the jacket makes it kind of hang inside the jacket. This is not a huge issue, but adding this liner doesn't transform your Barbour jacket into an integral piece like a zip in fleece works in a Columbia or a Patagonia 3-in-1 jacket. A bit tricky to put on.
3. Sizing is not clear cut. A medium liner is too big for a medium Ashby, but is almost ok for a Bedale in size 36. Not the liner's fault, Barbour are known for their all over the place sizing on different pieces they make.
4. The inside of the jacket is Olive Green, not Tartan. Not a huge deal but would be nice to have the inside of the liner match the same pattern a Jacket has.

Overall, not a bad piece to have, especially if you didn't pay the full price. Will definitely help the comfort, extending the range of the jacket by another 5-10 degrees, depending on what other layers you use and your level of physical activity. Lire moins

Barbour quality

Bought it primarily as a liner for an Ashby. As per Barbour recommendation, bought size down from the coat. Fits well and extends seasonal use of the coat.

More jacket-liner than a standalone vest

Since you need to size down to fit into the jacket, it was too small as a standalone vest, but works great as a jacket liner.

Decent Liner

I paired this liner (size M) with a Medium Ashby Jacket and it was a perfect fit (5'11" - 190lbs) - zipped-in without any issues and the polar fleece is a nice cozy addition to the jacket to add some extra warmth. The liner has an awkward inner (L side) zip pocket that, once zipped into a jacket is basically on your hip and can be a little difficult to access, but not a deal breaker. Also, the liner only attaches with a loop at the back of the neck and with the front zippers, which leaves the chest and shoulders a little loose.
